Amazon.com Review Braun's AromaDeluxe is a no-nonsense, easy-to-use coffeemaker for those who still prefer a basic cup of coffee. The coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups using a fast brewing method that thoroughly extracts the rich flavor and aroma from your ground coffee. The integrated Brita water filter also contributes to better-tasting coffee by screening out chlorine and other harsh minerals, plus it prevents calcification within the water tank. A marker on the top of the water tank helps you keep track of when the water filter needs to be changed. Other handy extras on the AromaDeluxe include a filter release button, which swings the detachable filter basket open for filling or easy cleaning, and a pause-and-serve feature, which stops the brewing while you pour a cup of coffee midway through a cycle. For safety, the glass carafe has a comfortable, nonslip handle with an open design to accommodate larger hands. Further safety measures include a large, red power button that is easy to see but difficult to switch on by accident. This coffeemaker is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

So far so good March 13, 2007 34 out of 36 found this review helpful
I've made a pot of coffee this morning. I am very happy with it. It's not gadgety. I just want to put the filter in and the coffee, the water, flip a switch and not wait three years to drink. It's pretty fast too. It comes with a brita water filter that goes in the machine to prevent calcification. The instructions explain how vinegar decalcifies so that it can brew at the rate of one cup a minute.
Very nice item and also aesthetically pleasing. Has a cute on/off switch that lights up and the carafe is adorable. The handle is a non-slip handle. It is hollow and has a little hole at the bottom so water does not collect in it.
The coffee was perfect except that if you want five cups put a little more water than five. Some is lost to steam but I've found that is universal in coffee makers.
Good Aroma and Taste August 16, 2007 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
The aroma and taste of a cup of coffee is important to me. After having used this coffeemaker daily for more than six weeks, I am very satisfied with the aroma and the taste of the coffee it brews. I do believe that the water temperature and the brewing speed are two important factors to the coffee aroma and taste. The Braun does these two things just right. I hope this coffeemaker will remain satisfactory for many years.
The unit I have was made in the Czech Republic. I have two minor complaints: some plastic parts including the locking mechanism of the filter basket were not fitted snugly; and it is not easily to see the water level through the blue measuring window of the reservoir.
I do not use its Brita water filtration system. I pour in already filtered water. These filters usually do not effectively remove the calcium from the water. Without the water filter, however, the markings on the reservoir need to be adjusted to match the markings on the carafe. The water filter takes up the volume about one cup of water. For example, without the water filter in place, six cups of water shown on the reservoir marking would brew seven cups of coffee into the carafe.
To keep the good taste, I do not leave the coffee cooking on the hot plate. I use a stainless steel thermal bottle to keep the coffee warm for about six hours. I use a gold-tone permanent filter made of stainless steel mash, though some friends say unbleached paper filters would improve the taste. By the way, it is my humble opinion that the programming features on the more expensive models are mostly counter productive to the aroma and the good taste of coffee.
3/25/08 update: After nine months of daily use (often twice daily), the hot plate began to lose the Teflon coating in the contact area with the carafe, though I shut off and cleaned the coffeemaker immediately after every brew. The aroma and the taste remain satisfactory.
Excellent in its price range February 9, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I particularly wanted a cone basket, which surprisingly was not as common among coffeemakers as I thought, and I did not want to pay too much. This fit the bill. A bonus for me has been the design of the cone basket; it sits firmly on the counter and so is easy to fill. (Perhaps it has been so long since I have bot a coffeemaker that this is not an innovation, but I have memories of the cone baskets easily tipping over when filling.) It would be helpful to have an auto shutoff, but the large, well-placed, power button makes for an easy reminder that the pot is still on -- so long as you are in the kitchen! The inclusion of a Brita filter is probably a good idea, but I am not sufficiently informed as to the quality of my city water to know if I need this. All in all I found this to be an excellent product.
Fine little coffeemaker February 2, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is the best everyday-use coffee maker I've ever owned. It's very well designed and it's easy to use. The thing you put the coffee in (it must have a name but I don't know it) has a flat bottom. So if you want to set it on the counter while putting the coffee in, it'll stand by itself.
I love the rubber grip on the carafe too. (See? I knew the name for that part!) It's also the only carafe I've used that doesn't drip when pouring. How'd they manage that?
My only nitpick is that the on/off switch has a really light touch, and it's easy to bump it and turn it on accidentally.
I love this machine. When/if it dies before I do, I'll buy another one.
