Not the thermometer that Cooks Illustrated reviewed April 19, 2007 46 out of 79 found this review helpful
This is NOT the thermometer (DTQ350) that "Cooks Illustrated" recommended. They recommended the DTQ450 as 'highly recommended' with the Thermapen 211-476 in first place but at $85 versus the $18 for the DTQ450. CDN has 3 thermometers in the ratings but only the dtq450 is highly recommended. The q2-450, dtc375 are not highly recommended because they take too long to respond or stems that are too short... but still recommended... just not highly. Cook's Illustrated was right; an excellent product! December 27, 2007 40 out of 43 found this review helpful

What more could you ask for? August 30, 2007 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
* Truly instant read (< 3 seconds) * Easy to read - large digits are easy to see even in low light and from an angle, unlike an analog dial model. * Single button toggles between display of temp in English and metric units * Wipes clean * Flat edge on display keeps it from rolling off the counter * Very accurate (Is 32.1 F for ice water accurate enough for you? Works for me.) * Easy to calibrate (if ever necessary) * Reasonable price
Working great January 5, 2007 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Technical notes -- the package for mine says it goes from -40 to 450F, and does not mention if the product is dishwasher-safe. I have always hand-washed mine. The thermometer has a 5 year warranty.
I've had this thermometer for several months and am quite pleased. I calibrated it when I opened the package [per the instructions], and have had very good results with my meats. I love that the sensor is in the tip; most instant-read thermometers want you to insert the probe an inch or more!
There is a "hold" button on the head, so the thermometer will retain the temperature for you to view in better light.
I've used it for chicken, pork, and steak. I haven't tried it yet with fish, but with the sensitive tip, I'm betting it will work great. I'm really hoping this thermometer is a helper in my kitchen for years to come!
