Works well May 18, 2007 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I am trying to use eco friendly products. But they have to work just as well as normal products.
I first tried the Seventh Generation liquid gel detergent. That was unacceptable (left white film, didn't clean).
So I was surprised that this worked well. The only warning is that I think it tends to affect aluminum things (makes them darker). It disclaims this on the packaging. Otherwise it's perfect.
I used to use Electrasol tablets so these tablets are about the same size and perform similarly.
How GREAT are these? November 26, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I spent months looking for an ecologically friendly citrus-free detergent because I thought I wasn't supposed to use any citrus products on my silverware. Then I talked to the silverware company and learned that it was only lemon I was supposed to avoid. After checking the Ecover tablets box in our local store, I couldn't find any indication that there was lemon present, so I went for it despite the citrus. I LOVE these things! I've never used dishwasher tabs before, and it's so easy to put them neatly into the dispenser! The individual packets the tabs come in are made of recyclable plastic. And what's really great: our old detergent was leaving powder all over everything, especially our glasses. These tablets don't leave powder--and, even better, they get things really gloriously clean! I don't think my silverware has been so shiny and gorgeous since just after we got it! Needless to say, I am impressed.
VERY IMPRESSED October 10, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I began searching for an environmentally friendly dishwasher detergent a couple months ago. I tried Seventh Generation powder & it failed. I also tried and have been using Bi-o-kleen, until now. Bi-o-kleen worked great except for leaving residue on a couple peices of plastic. One plastic cup has stayed in the dishwasher since using bi-o-kleen (about 1 month) because it left a powdery residue on the bottom that wouldn't come off. I placed in front & back of top rack, front & back of bottom rack and it always left the powdery residue). After 1 use with Ecover tablets, the cup sparkled and has no residue anywhere. Ecover has a light fragrant scent, not chemical, and leaves the kitchen smelling great. I will use this from now on. I hope Amazon continues to keep in stock. At this great price, I'm stocking my cleaning closet! You will not be dissappointed with this!
Not getting the results the others got June 30, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This product has not worked well for me. I guess it works well if you hand wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. I was very surprised to find that it had left finger prints and lip prints on my glasses! And this is in a brand new compact dishwasher. That means this dishwasher is smaller than usual so the product should have been more than enough to thoroughly clean my dishes. I even tried using 2 of the tablets and found instead that that Trader Joe's Automatic Dishwasher Detergent cleans better than this.
On the plus side, it smells pretty.
Of course I wouldn't mind my laundry smelling pretty. But I want my dishes CLEAN.
I read elsewhere that Ecover have been redesigning many of their products. I do not know if this is because of the kinds of problems I have had (read my review of their laundry powder) or if this is the new, improved product. In any case, I threw away a lot of money on this 5-pack.
This one is IT! March 29, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have been on a mission to find eco-friendly products for my home. For this review, I was interested in finding a dishwashing detergent that did not blast chlorine steam into my kitchen during the dry cycle. I researched the reviews here on Amazon and chose Ecover dishwasher tablets. I am truly amazed that my dishes are cleaner than ever, and actually shine - it also seems to have cleaned my dishwasher, because it no longer has the dark scum that I have to wipe out of the soap dispenser and around the edges of the dishwasher. Since my dishes and my dishwasher are so clean, my assumption is that Ecover does not leave any nasty chemical residues behind. For those of you who would like to know, I have well water (pH corrected). I am NOT going back to my other brands.
Update: Ecover tabs do not seem to get black tea stains out of my cups. It is a minor irritation for me (being green is more important), but worth noting in the event that this is important to some people. I now drink green tea, so this is not even an issue for me anymore, since green tea doesn't stain.
